Our Environmental Policy

 

At Radnor Hills Holiday Cottages we are committed to providing a good quality service whilst minimising the environmental impact of our business activities. As part of this commitment we are members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme which provides accreditation and encouragement for tourism businesses to reduce their environmental impact. By promoting sustainable practices the scheme will ensure the continued enjoyment of the environment around us for future generations.

At Radnor Hills Holiday Cottages where possible:

  • We supply environmentally friendly washing products and cleaning materials for our guests use.
  • We use environmentally friendly washing and cleaning products in our own cleaning routine.
  • Laundry is collected by Telford Laundry, an environmentally conscious business collected by vans run on bio diesel, their environmental policy is included for reference also.
  • Paper & Card and Plastics & Tins are collected in the recycled bags by collection for the local recycling centre.
  • Bottles are taken to Ten Green Bottles a CIC based at Brookside farm. There the glass is recycled into new, interesting and beautiful things by people of different abilities and long term unemployed. http://youtu.be/LscfWOtMgkA 
  • Wood provided for the wood-burners is waste timber from the furniture and joinery workshop located at Brookside and also from managed woodland on Brookside farm.
  • Low energy light bulbs are used where possible and we will replace all bulbs with them when they need replacing.
  • All of our appliances are B rated or higher.
  • All gardening is pesticide free and we aim to encourage beneficial insects.
  • Our office stationary and toilet is recycled.
  • The welcome gifts for our guests such as tea and wine is Free Trade, other items are locally produced where possible. Recycled toilet rolls


We encourage guests to consider their environmental impact and where possible to:

  • Use the heating controls with consideration.
  • Use the separate bins provided for bottles, cans and paper.
  • Use recycled paper products.
  • Supports our local shops, pubs, restaurants and food producers by recommendation.
  • Use environmentally friendly washing and cleaning products.
  • Leave hazardous waste such as batteries with us for safe disposal at our local recycling centre.
